Charges and Turnaround Times

Archaeological and Environmental Samples

Our charges are the same for all material types. Prices include sampling on site at our laboratory, chemical pretreatment, stable carbon isotope, and AMS isotope measurement.

Number of samples submitted Charge per sample (Excl. VAT)
1-4 £390
5-9 £355
10-19 £330
20+ £315
Samples that fail through no fault of ORAU £100

We can also offer additional stable isotope (d13C and d15N) measurements.

Number of samples submitted Charge per sample (Excl. VAT)
Stable isotopes in additional to radiocarbon measurement - any number £25
Stable isotopes only - any number £75

%N testing is an indication of collagen preservation. For samples submitted for radiocarbon analysis we can carry out %N testing on request. There is no additional fee for this service.

Samples not for Academic Research

We can accept samples from individuals or organisations not affliated with archaeological or envrironmental research. Prices include sampling at our laboratory, sample prearation, stable carbon isotope, and AMS isotope measurement. We reserve the right to refuse material for dating if the provenance is uncertain or for other ethical considerations. Please contact us to discuss your request before submitting material.

Any number £700
Samples that fail through no fault of ORAU £100

Compound-Specific Dating of Amino Acids

For heavily contaminated samples we can offer a pretreatment involving the isolation of hydroxyproline for compound specific AMS dating. The price shown here includes AMS measurement. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
